Desingu Raja 2 (2025)

Detailed Review

The film begins with Kulasekara Pandian (Vimal) and Pugazh (varnajalam), both serving as inspectors at different police stations. They frequently clash with each other. When a controversial videotape involving Minister Ravi Mariya goes missing, he desperately seeks Vimal`s help to retrieve it. Meanwhile, Sathya (Jana), driven by revenge, is out to kill the minister`s son and spends the film on a relentless search.

A gangster is found decapitated in the market, but no one knows where the head is. Similarly, this film is full of scenes but no coherent story—leaving the audience wondering where the plot has gone. Director Ezhil attempts to create a comedy without a proper storyline, but forgets to make us laugh.

Vimal gives his best, but it’s not enough to carry the film. Jana, introduced as another hero, does not make much of an impression. Pugazh appears in a female disguise, and comedians like Madhumitha, Singampuli, and Shaams pop in and out, but the comedy simply doesn’t land. The endless rhyming dialogues test our patience. Vidyasagar`s songs fail to leave a mark, though the background score is passable.

If you walked in expecting something on the lines of Poovellam Un Vasam (from the Ezhil–Vidyasagar combo) or even Desingu Raja (the first part with Vimal), you’ll only walk away disappointed.

Overall: Desingu Raja 2 – No room left in the fort, nor in your patience.
