Keerthy Sanon searches for her college friend Dhanush but fails to find him anywhere. One day, she finally learns where he is. Dhanush is now serving in the Indian Air Force, and due to certain actions of his, his mental condition needs to be evaluated. Keerthy Sanon, who works as a psychiatrist, is called in to assess and certify him. What happens after that? Why was Keerthy Sanon searching for Dhanush in the first place? Director Aanand L. Rai presents this as a romantic drama.

Dhanush once again impresses with his natural performance, portraying love and sorrow with ease. Keerthy Sanon looks graceful and delivers a performance that suits her role, though her character itself feels somewhat confusing. Prakash Raj shines as a middle-class father, making the role feel lived-in rather than acted. Other supporting characters, including Keerthy Sanon’s father and Dhanush’s friend, perform well. A.R. Rahman’s songs and background score add quality to the film.

Though the story is familiar, the director attempts to refresh it with a few twists in the screenplay. Some scenes and dialogues feel organic despite being a dubbed film, which works in the film’s favor. However, logical loopholes, reminders of previously seen films, the unclear characterization of the heroine, and occasional dubbing issues prevent the audience from fully connecting with the film.

Overall, Tere Ishk Mein suffers from an unstable female lead and a wavering narrative.
