Kambi Katna Kathai (2025)

Detailed Review

Natti Natraj lives a carefree life by engaging in small thefts and cheating people for money. Meanwhile, a politician named Muthuraman smuggles diamonds from abroad and hides them in India, building a temple right above where they are buried. Knowing about this, Natti Natraj disguises himself as a saint and enters the temple, even setting up his own ashram there, with the intention of finding and stealing the diamonds. In the end, does he succeed? Director Rajnathan Periyasamy presents this as a comedy drama.

Natti Natraj delivers a strong performance just like he did in Sathuranga Vettai. His dialogues and expressions remind us of his iconic role from that film. Heroines Sriranjani and Shalini appear only for the sake of the song sequences. Mukesh Ravi appears with six-pack abs but doesn’t get any significant scenes to perform. Comedians like Singam Puli, Java Sundaresan, Gothandam, and Muthuraman justify their characters — yet the comedy fails to make us laugh.

The work of cinematographer Jai Suresh and music director Satish Selvam does not add much value to the film. The director attempts to create a comedy film based on the antics of a fake saint, but the humor simply doesn’t work.

Overall: Kampi Kadna Kadha — A comedy film with no real laughs.
